Dr.Emir Sudžuka is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, notary public in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina and teaches Contract Law at the Faculty of Law, International University of Sarajevo He passed the bar exam in 2012, the attorney’s exam in 2014, and the notary exam in 2021. Dr. Sudžuka is a member of the Notary Chamber of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and serves as a Civil law educator at the Center for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of FBiH. He has published over 20 scientific and professional articles, authored one book, and participated in numerous national and international conferences.
The research conducted as part of a doctoral dissertation titled "The Right of Withdrawal in Distance and Off-Premises Contracts under European Union Consumer Law and the Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina," combines surveys and legal analyses of relevant legislation and case law to examine consumer rights related to withdrawal from distance (online) and off-premises contracts in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) compared to EU standards.
Primary data is collected through a survey among consumers in BiH to understand their knowledge, experiences, and challenges regarding the right of withdrawal. The secondary part of the research includes an analysis of legislation and case law in BiH and the EU, as well as relevant case law from the Court of Justice of the European Union, focusing on the interpretation of EU consumer protection regulations concerning the right of withdrawal.

The combination of these methods enables a comprehensive assessment of the current state and provides a basis for recommendations for legal reform in BiH, aimed at strengthening consumer rights protection and aligning it with EU standards, which is one of the primary goals of this doctoral dissertation.
The research titled "The Right of Withdrawal in Distance and Off-Premises Contracts under European Union Consumer Law and the Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina" is conducted as part of a doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana. The objective of this research is to examine consumer awareness, behavior, and the practical application of the right of withdrawal in distance and off-premises contracts within the European Union (EU) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
Through this questionnaire, the aim is to gain insights into the level of awareness among consumers regarding the right of withdrawal in distance and off-premises contracts, focusing on their knowledge, experiences, and the challenges they encounter in exercising this right. The results of this primary research will be analyzed and compared with the findings from previous studies in this field, which include a detailed review of relevant legislation, case law in BiH, comparative legal frameworks, and judicial practices in EU countries, as well as case law from the Court of Justice of the European Union concerning the right of withdrawal.
By presenting the results of this research in combination with the findings from secondary research, a comprehensive analysis will be provided on the current state of the application of the right of withdrawal in the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The overall goal of this doctoral dissertation is to enhance the legal framework in BiH in accordance with EU standards, thereby further strengthening consumer protection as the weaker contracting party and improving the enforcement of the right of withdrawal for consumers in distance and off-premises contracts.
